Seville is outside the path of totality on 2 August 2027. The city sees 98.35% of the sun covered at maximum, which is a striking partial eclipse and not a total one. The northern limit of the path runs roughly through the latitude of Jerez, about eighty kilometres to the south.
That eighty kilometres is an hour on the AP-4 motorway or an hour and a quarter on the train, which makes Seville one of the most convenient bases for this eclipse even though the city itself misses it.
Jerez is an hour away and gets 1 minute 37 seconds. Cádiz is an hour and a half and gets 2 minutes 54 seconds. Conil and Vejer are about two hours and get over four minutes. All three are on or near the train line, which matters more than usual on a day when the roads will be jammed.
The catch is the heat. Seville in early August regularly passes 40 degrees. If you are staying here, plan your day around it.
